Sotogrande Dolphin Observation

Departing from Puerto Deportivo de Sotogrande, this 2.5-hour trip takes you into one of the most fascinating marine areas of southern Europe, with spectacular views towards the Rock of Gibraltar and Jebel Musa, historically known as the Pillars of Hercules.

Bretema is a hybrid electric zodiac boat designed for quiet and environmentally responsible dolphin watching, allowing you to experience marine wildlife without disturbing their natural behaviour.
The boat is also very special due to its low waterline, which makes the experience feel very close to the ocean.

Species you may encounter

Most of the time we encounter Common dolphins or Bottlenose dolphins, which are resident species in the waters around Sotogrande. From May to July, Fin whales migrate from the Mediterranean to the Atlantic, passing through the Strait of Gibraltar and occasionally appearing in the area.

In addition, you’ll enjoy the sight of seabirds and migratory birds, and it’s not unusual to see sunfish, flying fish, and even sea turtles.

More than a dolphin watching trip: this experience is also about learning and contributing to ocean conservation.

• Learn about dolphin behaviour and the ecosystem of the Strait of Gibraltar
• Help collect marine debris when we encounter it
• Support our Photo-ID and Acoustic project with Common dolphins

The images and sound recordings we collect help identify individual animals and better understand population patterns and possible communication structures.
